After a series of delays, Doug Ford is the new Conservative Party leader.
It was announced in the early morning hours today.
A statement from the PC election organizers released Sunday afternoon says there wasn’t a recount as several media outlets reported, noting the delays were to check whether some votes were assigned to the wrong riding.
Media outlets are also reporting that Elliott continues to challenge the leadership result, and that she claims she won both the popular vote and the majority of ridings in the province.
Speaking after the announcement, Ford says he’ll spend the coming weeks leading up to the provincial election getting the party in fighting shape. (File Photo)
