Cautious praise from the president of the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce to news the Trudeau government is making changes to its promised tax reforms.
Charla Robinson wonders if the promise to simplify the proposal for income splitting is for real.
“The language used today around income splitting was not much different from the language used when they introduced the proposal back in July,” Robinson points out.
Robinson says they also want to see if the promised cut in the business tax to 9% will offset some of the other tax changes.
“We think that it’s going to be positive for business owners in Thunder Bay.”
However, she adds the Chamber is still skeptical, since it was promised by the Harper government but put on hold after the last election. (File Photo)
