Thunder Bay appears to have a rat problem.
There’s been an increased number of sightings, including city councillor Shelby Ch’ng who saw one walking down James Street last summer.
Having been told recently about thirty found in resident’s garage, she says the city will have to come up with a plan.
Ch’ng says the rat she saw on the road was about the size of a medium Shih Tzu, and looked old, tumorous and grumpy.
Ch’ng says there have been sporadic sightings of rats over the years, but nothing like this. She suggests rats are attracted to composting but also people not storing garbage properly. (File photo)
