The annual Salvation Army Thanksgiving Dinner is taking place this afternoon at the North Cumberland Street location.
Executive Director Lori Mitchell says it’s being put on with the help of the Firefighters Association.
She notes they’ve been working together for 21 years, with the firefighters preparing vegetables and serving the meal.
About 300 people are expected for the dinner which takes place between noon and two o’clock.
Spokesperson Anne Antenucci notes it’s open to all, not only those who are low-income.
“The point of Thanksgiving is to be together with family and with friends–that, to us, is a sense of community.”
A shuttle service from City Hall and the Water Street Terminal will be made available starting at 11:45.
