To some it may seem the event centre project is dead now that the Federal Government has said the City won’t get funding unless they build a stand alone convention centre.
The Feds also took issue with a professional sports team acting as the anchor tenant in the arena portion of the facility.
However, Mayor Keith Hobbs says he’s not taking this letter as the end of the road.
The Mayor admits the project is on wobbly legs but it’s not over until it’s over.
Council will now meet on April 13th to discuss their next options including building a stand alone facility, shelving the project for now or having the LU Thunderwolves as the anchor tenant. (Photo by Sheri Leviski-Kotyk)
