The NDP are wondering if the provincial government is going to do anything to help the community of Kashechewan.
A state of emergency was declared last month after it had to close the school because of health concerns.
MPP Guy Bourgoin feels the provincial government should turn its attention away from Toronto and look at conditions in the north for a change.
“Does the premier believe that tramping on the Charter of Rights of Torontonians is a more urgent issue than making sure the children of Kashechewan have a safe school to attend?” he asked.
Premier Doug Ford dodged the question, and instead talked about how the government was going to save taxpayers money by cutting the number of Councillors at Toronto City Hall.
At the end of Question Period yesterday, Bourgoin issued a notice of motion indicating he was not satisfied with the premier’s response, an issue that will be debated next week.
