If you have plans outdoors, you’ll want to be prepared.
Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch Thursday, which has the potential to bring strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain to the region.
The forecast calls for scattered thunderstorms developing throughout the day, which could produce nickel to quarter sized hail and locally heavy downpours.
Environment Canada says large hail can damage property and cause injury, and strong winds can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.
It also warns heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
