Looking for better for workers and their families in Ontario.
Waverley Park will be the site Sunday of a rally to mark International Workers’ Day, which is also known as Labour Day in most countries.
In Canada, it’s celebrated as a national holiday on the first Monday of September.
Treasurer Steve Mantis of the Thunder Bay and District Injured Workers Support Group says among other things, it’s time for a $20 minimum wage for workers.
“Flexibility, sick days, safe work and fair wages at the work place. These are all main pieces of the puzzle that not only support workers and their families but really support all of us,” Mantis stressed. “If workers have the ability to stay home when they are sick or care for family members when they are ill or in emergency situations, then it creates a safer environment for all of us.”
The rally begins at 2 p.m. Sunday.
