A former federal Conservative member carries the Libertarian Party of Canada flag for the second consecutive election.
26-year-old Alex Vodden picked up 140 votes in the 2019 election and feels putting his name forward was great for his confidence, knowing that he could not only hold his own in debates but also that those who run for office are just like any other human being.
“People are usually happy to see any young person involved in politics trying to make a change, regardless if they believe in that change or not. It’s always good to see anyone working for a better Canada whether that’s their image of a better Canada or not,” Vodden told Acadia News.

Vodden notes as important as Thunder Bay is, getting those in the remote or smaller communities to cast a ballot can be a challenge.
“Fly in, fly out jobs, some residents aren’t home for long periods of time,” adds Vodden. “There are advance polls but some of these guys are working 28 straight days so there is a big accessibility to voting issue… my hope is that mail-in voting will help rectify that issue.”
Election Day is Monday September 20th although advanced polls are open this weekend.
