The Mayor has a few things on the agenda for the upcoming Association of Municipalities Ontario Conference.
“I think one of the big ones from my perspective is in mental health and addictions crises center, and the region actually through the hospitals has submitted a proposal that we have been working on for quite some time,” explains Bill Mauro.
Mauro added: “We’re still waiting to hear if our bid for the 2024 Ontario Winter Games host has been successful. We’ve felt very positive about that and believed we would have heard back by now, so we’re going to ask the parliamentary assistant responsible for that if there are any updates on that one.”
The conference will once again be a virtual format as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, something the Mayor is looking forward will change in future years.
“We’ve been having to do this now for quite some time and people have unfortunately have gotten used to this now, but I think the in person is better, we miss it, and there’s a number of opportunities to have unofficial conversations with people you bump into.”
The virtual event this year is being hosted by London from August 16-18.
