The Overdose Prevention Site at the NorWest Community Health Centres in Thunder Bay has been approved by the Ford government to operate for one year.
Centre CEO Juanita Lawson says it now gives them a chance to put the program into full gear.
“We can really enhance a lot of the engagement, and reaching out to populations, and of course stabilizing our staff and the model of care.”
She says that would include extended hours and added staff.
Lawson points out it will no longer be called an Overdose Prevention Site, but Consumption and Treatment Services.
