Police are investigating a video that appears to show an officer hitting a person who was restrained.
A six-second video was posted to social media Saturday night, and a longer version posted on Sunday.
It appears to show a paramedic and a female officer standing over someone who is strapped to a stretcher, and holding the person’s arms, which are not under the straps.
Someone is heard saying “You’re going to the hospital.”
The officer then appears to slap the face of the person on the stretcher and say “Do not spit on me,” while pushing down on them.
Police spokesperson Chris Adams confirms they are aware of the video.
He says they can’t offer any more comments while they look into the incident.
@Thunder Bay Police HERES THE FULL VIDEO.The youth called the ambulance for a different individual who needed help. The young girl in the gurney was being transported to the hospital because of how highly intoxicated she was, and was clearly in distress with the seatbelt retrains and didn’t want to be in them. She was not being arrested, so she wasn’t “resisting”.
