Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford is fed up and he wants answers.
The Minister of Energy and Northern Development and Mines has called on a federal law enforcement agency to investigate and review gas and diesel retail prices in northwestern Ontario.
Rickford says the price at the pump should have been lowered the second the cap-and-trade carbon tax was eliminated.
“Somebody in the supply chain, whether it’s a vendor, the distributor… I’ve asked the competition bureau to look at the entire supply chain. Someone has been taking that 4.3 cents in the carbon tax.”
He says can’t accept consumers getting gouged at the pump and he’s hoping the bureau takes the issue seriously.
