Striking postal workers are being sent back to work at noon Eastern Time on Tuesday.
The Senate gave back-to-work legislation Royal Assent Monday night.
Federal Labour Minister Patty Hajdu announced a mediator will be chosen and appointed in the next few days to help the Canadian Union of Postal Workers and Canada Post reach a new agreement.
She says the rotating strikes have negatively affected Canadians but calls back-to-work legislation a last resort.
CUPW National President Mike Palacek says workers are outraged, claiming the law violates their right to free collective bargaining.
