A move has been made to support Canada’s veterans.
Ontario NDP MPP Jennie Stevens has tabled legislation that would give priority to veterans for long term care beds across the province.
Stevens says current rules have forced too many vets to relocate in order to receive the care they deserve.
She notes this is due to narrow constraints on who qualifies as a veteran.
Stevens says right now anyone who fought in World War I and World War II as well as the Korean War is considered a vet.
She notes there are more than 33,000 veterans waiting for a bed in a provincial long term care home.
