Shelter House is starting a new fundraiser, that’ll have participants sleep outside.
Executive Director Michelle Jordan tells us SleepOUT is quickly approaching and is taking place November 30th, no matter how cold it is.
“We have our tents, we have our heaters, so people don’t have to be afraid that it’s going to be too cold,” Jordan points out. “But also, be mindful that there are people who sleep outside without tents and heaters. That’s the purpose of doing this.”
“We want to give people a little taste of what it’s really like to be out in our winters here.”
Money raised will go towards supporting the many men, women and youth in our community living in poverty.
The Shelter House Executive Director says guest speakers will talk about what it’s like to be homeless.
Jordan tells us they got the idea for their SleepOUT from other shelters in the province.
