The provincial government will spend $5.7-million this year on the construction of winter roads in Ontario’s remote north.
A total of 29 communities will be connected.
Northern Development Minister Greg Rickford says the winter road network provides vital connections to all-season roads, making it easier to bring in essential services and goods like food, medical and construction supplies.
Weather permitting, the network is open from around mid-January until the spring thaw.
