A unique investment program is being expanded in the region.
The provincial government is helping to fund the launch of the Northern Ontario Angels into Kenora and Timmins.
Minister of Northern Development and Mines Greg Rickford made the announcement recently.
Ron Malashewski is the Kneora consultant working on the initiative and says it tried to match local entrepreneurs with potential investors.
He notes the “Angel Investors” are “usually successful entrepreneurs giving back to the community.”
“They love to see businesses develop, and they look at the possibilities with young entrepreneurs to see if they can go help them out, invest in their company, and most important, give them the guidance that they need.”
Northern Ontario Angels currently operates in Thunder Bay, Sault Ste Marie and Sudbury and the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines is providing $150,000 to expand the program.
