A 68 year old cyclist from Virginia is now in the Guinness Book of World Records for the oldest person to bike across Canada.
Lynn Salvo made the trip from the coast of British Columbia to Nova Scotia in 70 days.
The senior cyclist came through Thunder Bay back in July and has good memories.
She told us it was an event orchestrated by the local cycling community.
A number of cyclists met her in Kakabeka Falls on July 22nd and they rode with her into the city.
After resting for a couple of days and playing the part of tourist, she left the Lakehead on July 24th.
Salvo vividly remembers the north shore of Lake Superior being a particular challenge, but notes, she wasn’t after a speed record, so she took her time and “chugged…up those long, long hills.”
Her record setting trip ended August 26th on a beach near Halifax.
