A relentless effort by Thunder Bay OPP, the Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry to get a safety message to ATV and snowmobile riders.
Constable Diana Cole notes a setup at the Canadian Tire on Arthur Street from 1-2:30 this afternoon.
“We’re going to have our ATV vehicles and snow machines, as well as safety pamphlets people can take, and officers on hand to answer questions about safety.”
The constable adds alcohol consumption, excessive speed, lack of helmet use and lack of experience continue to be the top reasons for crashes.
“Fall continues to be a time when people are riding ATVs and snowmobiles, and we’re going into the season where people are going to be driving these vehicles, so it’s good to get this message out.”
She stresses they’ll continue to push this safety message because if it saves one life, it’s worth it.
