Canada is one step closer to welcoming modernized labour laws.
Labour Minister Patty Hajdu introduced legislation recently that if passed will improve the lives of federally regulated workers.
The legislation still needs to pass a number of hurdles which could take up to a year and a half before it becomes implemented.
Hajdu tells us the modernized law will include new breaks and leaves, including a new 5-day personal leave and 5 days of paid leave for victims of family violence.
