Expect no mail service in Thunder Bay today.
Canadian Union of Postal Workers local rep Brenden Roy tells our newsroom it started about 1 this morning, with about 200 people in Thunder Bay rotating, continuing until about 1am tonight.
However, he adds it could go to 48 hours, at the mail processing plant on Alloy Drive.
Canada Post indicates CUP-W began action last night also in Winnipeg.
Strike action is taking place out west in Brandon, as well as Niagara Falls, Pickering, Oshawa, and Quebec.
Canada Post points out in an email to our newsroom it is attempting to minimize the impact of this strike on affected cities.
Roy adds they’re looking at overtime issues, injuries, fair pay and fair compensation.
