A group representing hospital workers is calling the Ford government’s decision to spend $90-million to open more hospital beds “deceptive” and “concerning.”
The PCs recently announced they’ll use the money to open 640 hospital beds to treat more patients during the flu season.
The Ontario Council of Hospital Unions says that’s around half of what the former Liberal government promised.
The Wynne government said it would spend $187-million for 1,200 new beds.
President Michael Hurley suggests he disagrees with the Premier’s claims that the funding will help end hallway medicine.
Hurley claims under the Conservatives’ plan hospitals will treat more patients in their hallways, not fewer.
