The Rotary Santa Claus parade is being sponsored this year by Goldcorp.
Parade Co-Chair Warren Philp tells us it takes a lot of financial pressure off of them to continue the 28th annual event.
“Well there are significant costs, I don’t think the community realizes how much it costs to put on a parade around $10,000 in costs To have a sponsor as wonderful as Goldcorp to step up like this is absolutely huge.”
Philp explains it allows Rotary to worry about helping charities rather than paying for a parade. “Want to put as much money back into the community as much as possible, not paying for parade costs. We hope this partnership with Goldcorp continues into the future.”
The parade co-chair tells us there’s no theme this year because they didn’t want to limit people’s creativity.
Rotary offers several suggestions for floats including The Nutcracker, Gingerbread houses, Santa’s Workshop and Polar Express.
The route will remain the same as previous years and will leave from the Real Canadian Superstore. The hope is for over 50 floats to take part.
