Police say a dangerous driving incident early this morning has led to multiple charges being laid against two people.
Just after 3:30 Tuesday morning, officers saw a vehicle travelling at high speed swerve off of Arthur Street and onto May Street, failing to stop at the red light.
They followed the vehicle to a laneway behind the Columbus Centre, where a man exited the vehicle brandishing a knife.
The officer chased him, and that’s when they say the suspect pulled out a hammer and swung it at him.
The 32-year-old driver is charged with resisting arrest, dangerous driving, assaulting police and weapons dangerous.
The passenger, a 24-year-old woman is charged with obstructing police.
