You can experience what it’s like to be homeless while also helping out a good cause next month.
Shelter House is hosting a SleepOUT event, and Executive Director Michelle Jordan tells us it involves sleeping overnight out in the cold.
“We’re anticipating it to be really chilly, and so we are preparing for it. We don’t want people walking away with frostbite, so we are going to make sure people are comfortable while still experiencing what it’s like to be outside for that many hours.”
The fundraiser is taking place overnight November 30th at the Shelter House courtyard.
There’s room for around 60 participants and each one must raise a minimum of $150.00 for the organization.
Officials say all funds raised through this event will go directly to continuing to support the over 200,000 men, women and youth in our community living in poverty and homelessness that Shelter House supports every year.
If you plan to take part you’ll need a sleeping bag, flash light, warm clothes, and two items of your choosing.
