Two people from Thunder Bay have been convicted following an investigation relating to the treatment of a dog in their care.
The Thunder Bay & District Humane Society reports Billy-Joe Holmquist and Jennifer Holmquist plead guilty to permitting distress.
The Justice of the Peace sentenced them both to 12 months probation and fined them $200 each.
In February of this year, an officer with the Society followed up on a concern that was reported about a stray dog in poor condition that was being cared for at the Thunder Bay Animal Services Centre.
The TBHS says a veterinarian examined the dog and confirmed it was emaciated, dehydrated and severely malnourished.
The animal has since been treated and now has a new home.
