A pilot and a local business owner are the newest winners of the Confederation College President’s Award.
The college is honouring Emily Crombez, who graduated in 2007 and became the first woman pilot to fight forest fires using a Bombardier CL-415 water bomber in North America.
She also set up a Northern Ontario chapter of an international organization of women pilots.
Pasta Shoppe owner Ashlyn Ransome was also recognized for her achievement in setting up the business right after graduating from Confederation in 2014.
The awards were presented at the college’s 23rd Annual Community Partners’ Evening.
