The arrival of fall not only brings back school, but cooler weather which is when head lice tend to breed.
Public health nurse Stasia Star has a piece of advice for parents of kids going back to school.
The nurse adds they have plenty of information about fighting off the lice, including proper nutrition, sleep, and exercise for school age children.
“We always say, ‘once a week, take a peek,’ so just take a peek through your child’s head once they are back at school.”
She notes September is a busy time for lice because the bugs breed when more kids wear hats in the cooler weather.
Star invites parents to look at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit website for more tips. (File Photo)
