An award winning farmer in the Thunder Bay District credits government help for allowing his business grow as quickly as it has.
Jeff Burke, of Brule Creek Farms, tells us over the last decade he’s tapped into various programs to help broaden his grain production into other areas like canola oil.
Burke says if they had to get private financing or use their own money, they wouldn’t have been able to expand the way they have.
Brule Creek produces cereal grains and flour along with canola oil for a wide market in northwestern Ontario that extends from Thunder Bay to Dryden, Sioux Lookout and Fort Frances.
Brule Creek Farms has just been recognized with the Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence.
