According to the guest speaker at the Fort William Gardens remembrance day service, history paints an honourable picture of Canadian soldiers.
Dave Wilke says German soldiers feared Canadians, because they were so unpredictable.
He also says as the soldiers advanced from city to city they would break into farms and eat whatever they could, as fresh food often didn’t reach them as they were continually moving.
Wilke was there with this 93-year old father, the two men having served Canada for years.
