City police and the Ontario Provincial Police are in the public eye over the bomb scare on the city’s north side.
On Tuesday, OPP explosives experts had to be called in from Kenora to deal with the problem of an abandoned metal box, which turned out to be harmless.
City police constable Julie Tilbury says the local force only has one person trained to deal with bomb disposal, and he wasn’t available.
When that happens they have an agreement to ask the OPP for their help, and in this case the help was six hours away.
OPP officials have not returned our call for comment.
