It’s a good day for Shelter House and its Managed Alcohol Program.
It’s geared to the most destitute of alcoholics in the city giving them a measured amount of wine on a daily basis.
The $185,000 cash injection from the region’s health authority, better known as the Northwest Local Health Integration Network, means the initiative can continue another year.
General Manager Gary Mack hints about a possible expansion as well, saying they’re working on a process with the LHIN and looking at a regional response to managed alcohol.
He says they’re in the beginning phases of analyzing on how the regional needs might be met.
Mack says there’ll be more to say about that in the future. (File photo)
