The opposition at Queen’s Park is accusing the Liberal government of giving Ontarians a lump of coal for Christmas.
Kenora-Rainy River M.P.P. Sarah Campbell says homeowners and agencies continue to struggle with high hydro rates.
She says health care facilities in the region are being particulary hard hit.
“Dryden Regional hospital’s bills have increased by a staggering 44 percent in just five years. The hospital is doing everything that it can to conserve energy. They’ve made signifcant investments in retro-fits, yet their bills continue to soar.”
Minister of Energy Glen Thibeault says the government recently announced 64 million dollars for hospitals Retrofit programs, so more money can go into patient care and less into operations.
