Neighbourhoods in County Park are troubled by a nuisance bear that’s been rummaging for food.
Tammy Tremblay is the property manager for Craigview Estates and she says she’s done everything under the sun to scare the bear away.
Tremblay says she’s frustrated because the Ministry of Natural Resources doesn’t want to relocate it.
“They actually stopped trapping the bears two years ago because they found it wasn’t stopping from them coming back. There’s a high percentage that they do come back to the same place.”
Tremblay says the MNR told her that this is the same 400 pound bear that’s been visiting for the past two years and there’s a new smaller bear that’s made the neighbourhood its home.
She’s warning area residents to be careful if they are walking around Prescott,York, County Boulevard and Halton Street.
She adds police have been trying to scare the bear away but it just returns.
She worries with the amount of kids in the neighbourhood that there may be an incident if nothing is done to remove the animal.
The MNR says they’re aware of the situation and they’ve spoken to residents about managing attractants like garbage and fruit trees. (Photo supplied)
