Throughout their careers George Strait and Willie Nelson have never recorded a duet.
Willie has duetted with Julio Iglesias, Waylon Jennings of course, Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, even Frank Sinatra but never with the King of Country.
It finally happened over the weekend in Nashville.
The performance was part of a tribute to Willie put together by A&E for a future special called Willie: Life & Songs of an American Outlaw.
Other performers included Eric Church, Jimmy Buffett and Emmylou Harris(some with or without the man).
Strait wrote this duet and got Willie to join in with him.
The song ironically was called I Never Got to Sing One with Willie, the tune written just for the occasion..
Their duet was captured by a fan on a cell phone and isn’t the greatest but we’ll take what we can get for now.
The A&E special airs later this year with no specific date yet.
