The new Technology, Education, and Collaboration Hub at Confederation College is now officially open.
The TEC hub has been in use since the beginning of the school year, but the college held its Grand Opening on Friday.
President Kathleen Lynch says the $19-million facility that hosts their Engineering and Aerospace Manufacturing programs will be a big draw for the college and Northwestern Ontario.
“People can see they’re going to come and get the latest and best experience. I think it opens our doors to attracting students from other parts of Ontario,” Lynch notes.
Lynch notes although construction is done they’re still working on raising $5 million to purchase more equipment for the building.
College officials say it will provide opportunities for Indigenous learners to enter skilled trades programming.
The facility attached to the McIntyre Building can also host high school-level classes and regional groups, as College officials say it’s meant to create opportunities for collaboration.
