There’s still no movement in the strike by public health nurses at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.
During a rally this afternoon outside the unit’s Balmoral Street building, Vicki McKenna of the Ontario Nurses Association, said they are waiting on management to call them back to the negotiating table.
McKenna notes they “have been very clear with management” from the start of the strike this week, they are ready to resume talks anytime.
As for public support, local union official Shelley Aretz tells us they “are busting (their) butts” to get their message out.
The major issue is the nurses demand for wage parity with other public health nurses in the province.
