A request from the provincial NDP that everyone affected by mercury poisoning on the Grassy Narrows First Nation be granted fair and full compensation.
Indigenous Affairs minister Greg Rickford indicates the Ford government has taken steps to help those people suffering.
He also notes a large number of White Dog residents are also showing the affects of mercury poisoning.
Opposition leader Andrea Horwath says as many as 94% of the residents suffer.
“Will the government commit to updating the mercury disability board so that all Grassy Narrows community members suffering from the affects of mercury exposure can receive the full and fair compensation they so rightly deserve.”
Indigenous Affairs minister Greg Rickford says as early as last month, the government made changes to the Mercury Disability payments indexing them to the cost of inflation and updating the 30 year old registry.
