A Thunder Bay man has been convicted on a charge of neglect over the treatment of his Shih Tzu type dog.
56-year-old Brent Myslicki pled guilty recently in court of permitting an animal to be in distress and failing to comply with orders served.
The case stems from an investigation by a Humane Society Officer who looked into the wellbeing of a dog in Myslicki’s care.
Officials say the dog’s nails were overgrown and long and it had matted fur over its entire body, noting the dog’s face wasn’t visible.
The man voluntarily surrendered four dogs in his care, which were assessed by a vet and found to be underweight and suffering from severe neglect.
Msylicki has been sentenced to two years probation, fined $200, and can not own, care for or live with any animals for five years.
